Boston-area-- anybody want some vegetables?

So I haven't made a farm share entry for either this week or last week, last week because we left the house just after it got here and this week because FOOD IS EVIL.

But we have a farm share, and neither Ruth nor I are up for making a dent in it because we don't eat right now, and enough of it is perishable that I don't think [livejournal.com profile] weirdquark will be able to get through it entirely by herself when she gets home Wednesday.

So here's the list of what we want to give away to anyone who would be willing and able to come pick it up at some point in the next few days. [livejournal.com profile] weirdquark, I've tried to put aside and not put on this list things I think you will want to eat; please let me know if you see anything on here you want us to keep, as these are your vegetables and you should have what you want. Also we are keeping some corn and some beans with you in mind, so let me know if you don't want any.

If anybody wants any of this, please comment. If you don't know where we are, email me. You do have to come pick things up; neither of us is up to hauling things around.

one bag baby beets (maybe eight?)
3/4 lb. fresh green beans (possibly more, that's an eyeballed weight)
eight ears corn
six small red onions
thirteen small white onions
three good-sized yellow squash (at least 8" long and 2" diameter)
six cucumbers (well, Ruth says they're cucumbers, and she's the one who can go through the fridge right now, but when I put them away I distinctly remember them being zucchini, so it could really be either)
three definite zucchini
two green bell peppers
a large green squash that we don't understand

an ID

The thing the farm share sent us that had stems as well as leaves has been positively identified by [livejournal.com profile] fiddledragon as purslane.

farm share

Our farm share turned up very late today-- so late in fact that Ruth and I brought it in after taking a long and delightful walk with a fortuitous [livejournal.com profile] nineweaving, around midnight.

So I don't have any list of what we've done with it yet, because we haven't.

But here's what we got this week. )

farm share

My household has purchased a share in one of the organic farm collective delivery services around here-- this one delivers by tricycle-- and I've decided to make a note each week of what they send us so that at the end of the summer it will be easy to review and we can decide whether to do it again. This is mostly for future reference.

The first delivery was today.

Cut for produce. )

ETA: What we did with the food. )
