So I haven't made a farm share entry for either this week or last week, last week because we left the house just after it got here and this week because FOOD IS EVIL.

But we have a farm share, and neither Ruth nor I are up for making a dent in it because we don't eat right now, and enough of it is perishable that I don't think [livejournal.com profile] weirdquark will be able to get through it entirely by herself when she gets home Wednesday.

So here's the list of what we want to give away to anyone who would be willing and able to come pick it up at some point in the next few days. [livejournal.com profile] weirdquark, I've tried to put aside and not put on this list things I think you will want to eat; please let me know if you see anything on here you want us to keep, as these are your vegetables and you should have what you want. Also we are keeping some corn and some beans with you in mind, so let me know if you don't want any.

If anybody wants any of this, please comment. If you don't know where we are, email me. You do have to come pick things up; neither of us is up to hauling things around.

one bag baby beets (maybe eight?)
3/4 lb. fresh green beans (possibly more, that's an eyeballed weight)
eight ears corn
six small red onions
thirteen small white onions
three good-sized yellow squash (at least 8" long and 2" diameter)
six cucumbers (well, Ruth says they're cucumbers, and she's the one who can go through the fridge right now, but when I put them away I distinctly remember them being zucchini, so it could really be either)
three definite zucchini
two green bell peppers
a large green squash that we don't understand

I can safely say that we will happily take some or all of the corn (i.e., we could eat all 8, but don't need to be greedy).

Awesome. Just call slightly before you want to drop by, whatever day/time you feel like it; I can safely say that I at least am going to be home until further notice.

We could probably take some of that, though I'll have to figure out when I can get there...

We could probably take some or all of:
some zuccini and/or cucumbers, whichever they turn out to be, peppers, a few onions, and probably some green beans

That would be great, and with the possible exception of the beans all of those are things that are not going to go bad straight away, so anytime within the next three-four days would be reasonable to get them. The beans I am not sure about, I have no idea how long fresh beans last.

I hope you found homes for things.

We had a bunny injury (fortunately minor, but requiring attention,) and things got crazy here, so getting to Cambridge got into the realm of impossible.

Sorry.

In what way is the large green squash not understandable? It is speaking in a particularly thick dialect of zucchini, or what?

More like we have no idea what it is.

Hopefully it is not the kind that turns into a vampire if left in a back field by itself too long.

Sounds like something to cube and stir fry with some chopped onions and a dash of soy sauce. (Mmmm -- stir fry.)

I'd be happy to take whatever's left (or some fair assortment thereof), if anything.

You are absolutely welcome to it. Pick a time would be convenient for you to come by, and we shall load you down with vegetables.

Argh, I should have responded to this last night when I ended up not riding, after all. If there's stuff left, I could swing by tonight on my way back from the barn, like 8 or 8:30ish? Or I could come by Saturday morning whenever would be good for you.

Sat. morning would be awesome-- I have to be at work at noon, so I leave the house around 11, but anytime before that. Email if you need directions?

We're up to our own ears in corn ;-) and squash, but will happily relieve you of any quantity of onions. I might be by Wednesday or Thursday.

We have managed to get rid of the onions; but thank you.
