And Yet More Snow
Feb. 17th, 2003 08:18 pmWell, Zara and I left the dorm once today, to see if the snow was going to pack enough to make a nice triumphal arch or something (it is not good packing snow), and the drifts on the ramp down from the front terrace were literally past my hips. It was very cool. I managed to stand on the drifts for about a minute, before I suddenly fell in up to my waist, and my feet were on a level with the railings. So we managed to get out to the drive, and then we threw icebergs at one another for a while, as the snow is lying about in cohesive chunks almost too big to be carried in both arms. It is a very impressive sight when a snowball that size hits somebody. And then we went back in. It appears that tomorrow will be a snow day too, so I have emailed Sir Radcliffe and asked for an extension on the Myth paper on the grounds of the libraries having been closed since Sunday and me living a quarter-mile off campus and the inherent difficulties with doing a research paper under these conditions. Absurdly enough, there is still more snow predicted for tonight, but Zara and I have enough pasta to feed an army and cabin fever cannot possibly set in until I have entirely caught up on my sleep. I've gotten a lot done on the costume, too, and we have plenty of anime, and the Internet, and Zara is presently ornately calligraphing a handwritten edition of something she is calling Baby's First Book of Swears, so life is good.
Man, I *needed* a vacation. This is happy. Purr. Snow. Purr.
