Headline update, news at... uh... some point or other...

I have a great many cool and interesting things going on in my life right now, all of which I am too busy to describe, and I will remain too busy for some time to come. So the short version: 1) Fall Break. It was good. Thank you to people I stayed with. 2) Umberto Eco spoke here yesterday evening. It was amazing. 3) Lantern Night/Masquerade Ball weekend is coming up, and the Entire Universe will be visiting. I am sure we will have a good time. 4) The Crying Queen bounced from Strange Horizons. I am going to brush it up next week and find somewhere else to send it. They gave a nice detailed critique but the problems they had were so different from the reactions of any other person or editor who has encountered the story that I am chalking it up to editorial idiosyncracy.
