Oh, hey, it's not just my wrists that are the problem, it's every joint in my body and a cough and exhaustion, fun times. I think we're going to say that I'll keep reading and then catch up on writing reviews when I stop coughing. My base state of health was already somewhere in the sub-basement. Didn't need this.

On a different note: in a fit of probable insanity, I have gotten a reading slot at Readercon, in which I will read some of the daily reviews aloud. I was thinking the one on T.H. White's The Goshawk and the one in which I read Master and Commander and Sarashina Nikki in terms of each other, but what do you all think would go well in performance? Not entirely sure what mood I'm aiming at, generally; I have about half an hour, though I want to leave time for questions and comments; I'd like to have some things with some relevance to science fiction and fantasy because that is what the con is about. Thoughts? Also, if you're at Readercon, please come listen!

Ooo! Ooo! Do the Opal Whitney thing with the moderately large rocks! Would you have time to read your review of "Emily of New Moon," too? That has pretty staggering relevance to Readercon just by way of sensitive-child-longs-to-write.

starlady: a circular well of books (well of books)

Seconding the suggestion above, and also, I have to say, the 300 one made me laugh out loud repeatedly, so I'd suggest taking that one under advisement too.

Damn. Asklepios needs speaking to. Severely.

I am so psyched for your Readercon reading! Those are excellent choices: don't forget that White was a Memorial Guest of Honor some years back. Other things? Opal Whiteley--just fascinating. The Vikram Seth review is a tour de force. So's the Tristram Shandy. The Frank Miller snark would be a hoot.

Be well.

Seconding Opal Whitely, if only for the pleasure of hearing you say "WHAT PART OF PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH WGAH'NAGHL CTHULHU FHTAGN DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?"

(Not that I'll be there. But you make it oh, so tempting...)

I think Good Eating: Suggestions for Wartime Dishes, The Daily Telegraph would be a good review to read. It is one of the most memorable for me.

Hope the extra illness goes away soonest. I know it seems like a terrible time to do it, but getting a reading is brilliant self-promotion and you're awesome to go for it.

Reviews:
Opal Whitely would probably take up most the allotted time, but it's a fascinating topic and one of my favorite reviews for being hilariously you-like.

I think it would be good to include a comics review, because you do that better than anyone else I have ever seen. The 300 one is very funny and I think listeners would appreciate it best, but I love what you did with Garden.

Inducing (fannish) discussion: The Disappearing Spoon, The Name of the Wind, The Boats of the Glen Carrig, Unnatural Creatures, The Curse of the Blue Figurine, The Ship of Ishtar

Reviews about writing: Dubliners, Last Tales

Reviews of amazing form: Definitely do the M&C/Sarashina Nikki one! And the Vikram Seth. What about The Lost Books of the Odyssey?

Things people should read and actually could get: Steam-Powered, The Demon's Daughter, Remarks on Frazer's Golden Bough, When You Reach Me, How I Killed Pluto, A Book of Tongues, In The Mother's Land, probably not The Delicate Fire alas

Sheer uproarious WTF: Crazy Beautiful!

Can I second "Crazy Beautiful"? Though really, any of these would entertain, amuse and instruct. I hope I can come to this reading.
