Jun. 5th, 2003 12:19 pmIn Boston. Got a hold of boss, making job arrangements. Trying to slow down and relax a bit. Watching anime. Mythical Detective Loki is amazing. Loki must have decided he wanted his own TV series and descended on the writer and said, lo, you shall write me an anime. And there shall be classy bishounen and a ditzy shoujo heroine who would be insufferable except that I shall torment her continuously in highly amusing ways which all ditzy shoujo heroines ever have really, really deserved. And Heimdall shall be a nifty psychopath, and Thor shall make okonomiyaki. And Frey will be Koyasu, playing at one and the same time the world's classiest Norse god and the world's biggest dork. And the whole thing shall be a brilliant Card Captor Sakura parody, just to add to things. And it turned out hilarious, and Loki was bish as hell, and all was good.
Also saw the second disc of Reign. It is one of the great anime discs of all time. Reign is going up my list of favorite series. So lovely. Alexander the Great has never been so well done. And Diogenes is the most wonderful horrible old man I think I've ever seen. The sheer intellectual brilliance of this show bowls me over.
Soon I hope to watch Laputa, D.N.Angel, Hikaru no Go, season 2 of Saiyuki, Gundam Seed, Wolf's Rain, and Gluhen. There is much time this summer for watching stuff, as Lauren has evening rehearsals for Carmen and Ada just left until after Sei's wedding. I was going into anime deprivation over the semester, so this is happy.
You will notice there is no information in this entry about my actual life. I am too tired. I am taking a couple days off from thinking. Next week, after I have been here long enough to feel like I have ceased running frantically about, I start regular hours on my writing, and, by way of a break from that, will be posting my pics from Japan, hopefully to Sassafrass Boston, with captions and journal entries. Assuming any of you care. I am making sure it will not all be in this journal, because if there is one thing that is obnoxious, it is backing people into a corner and saying What One Did On One's Summer Vacation. So it will be a link away, and I will have it out there, and those of you who do not want to look at, like, eighty pictures and probably about sixty pages of single-spaced prose will not have to, and it will all be well.

Date: 2003-06-05 10:49 am (UTC)I look forward to clicking and scrolling around Japan with you!
Also, I will be in Boston next week, so pick out some good anime we can watch together :-) Pretty much everything you mention except for Laputa, I haven't seen. Loki and Reign sound fabulous, though of course you just saw 'em, but maybe I could watch them during a day while you're at work?
