Thrud noticed something recently that I found very interesting-- she happened to notice it because of the proximity to one another in the room of various pieces of merchandising.

A picture of Lalah Sune from the original Mobile Suit Gundam.

Himemiya Anthy.

There is absolutely no way that that is a coincidence, especially given how huge a thing Gundam is in Japan; Lalah Sune has been topping Greatest Female Character In Anime Ever poll lists for literally decades now.

Lalah Sune's greatest effects on the characters in MS Gundam happen after she's dead, when her physical presence is null and her psychic presence is, both intrinsically and by her own will, emotionally shattering.

!!!

It was actually the second picture of Lalah Sune that gets me more. Make the dress pink instead of yellow, and um, yeah.

Ha! That's a great catch!

I wonder if that phenomenon has a name yet: Women in Refrigerators lashing back from beyond the grave.

Very yes. The characters are alike in so many ways, and character design is just one of them.

Now, in order to make your brain explode: consider the other parallels which therefore exist between Utena characters and MS Gundam characters. :)

Yeah, I know. I'm saving that analysis for the Utena chapter of the shoujo book. ^_^

When you analyze it, please do share. I have been watching Gundam00 and so find myself suddenly excited about parallels to Utena, my first anime.
