Gmail has those ads around the edges which are supposed to be based on recognition of the words or phrases in your email so that they're actually ads for things that might vaguely be relevant, right?

What in the world did I or my correspondents say to cause the ad that popped up for my inbox in general to be "Ordo Templum Orialis: initiations Fast, Easy, Near Your Home! Discover secrets of the Golden Dawn without leaving your house! Magick of the ages now available cheaply, accessibly"?

Everything inside quotes was a copy-paste, btw, so I do not take responsibility for the, uh, non-Latin.

My inbox is full of scheduling emails about the Farthing Launch Party and scans of recent photos of portions of the household, and what this has to do with Aleister Crowley I haven't the foggiest.

Anybody in need of a cut-rate initiation ritual?

have you done any google searches for anything... um... remotely relevant to that, while logged in to gmail? They track your searches, too, I believe.

Actually, no.

Oddly enough.

Hmm. Well, then, I got nothing. The ads that I get in gmail all seem... if not relevant, then at least sensible. Job-application related stuff, some ads for adventure game sites. So I dunno where that ad is coming from for you...

The strangest one I ever saw was some kind of Venom Lip Gloss. Apparently it tingled when you kissed someone, or something. Very odd.

hilarious! How come I never get cool ads like that? All I wind up with is that idiotic "classmates" thing trying to convince me that people who didn't want to speak to me in high school somehow will want to speak to me now...

That spinning sound you hear emanating from County Sligo . . .
