In the Department of Total Randomness

So it's been hailing and stuff like that today, and there were people here over the weekend who are not in this vicinity anymore, and I had a great deal of rather dull homework, and I went to see the French Club's showing of Amelie because I remembered only that it was an amazing and uplifting and sweet movie and completely forgot that the first time I saw it I broke into little tiny pieces on account of missing my girlfriend, who just left yesterday, which I did not think would combine interestingly with the movie. Gee, that was dumb of me.
Except I checked email to find the single most random piece of good news I think I have ever had:
I won a cooking contest.
Bryn Mawr Dining Services was having a recipe-from-the-rest-of-your-life contest, and the winners' recipes do, I believe, go on rotation at the dining hall. I entered because I thought it would be nice to have a faint hope of having some food I might have a chance of Really Liking in the contest. This was, like, the first week of school. Some of you know that thing I make, with the coconut milk, and the noodles, and the mushrooms? I entered it in Vegetarian (heck, it's even vegan) and I got an email today saying it won. And they're apparently giving me some kind of award (no idea what). And unless I am remembering the rules of the contest incorrectly, y'all at BMC will be eating my recipe at some point here. (I wonder if they'll do it right?)
In the sheer and utter randomness of this my day is quite redeemed.
Angst-O-Meter: 2ish.
Irony Factor: Through the roof. I mean, me. Cooking contest. Major femme points. I may have to go buy hiking boots in self-defense.

Date: 2002-10-30 06:25 am (UTC)You'd look.... good, in hiking boots. More adjectives later in a less-public forum.
And of Amelie... yeah. Quite yeah. Ach, loved, yeah. I miss you too, rather lots, because there's never quite enough being with you. Shall we talk on the phone Friday night? And shall you in the meantime keep my heart under your pillow (let's not take that metaphor too literally, neh?)? Love.
