welp, I was having a good enough day that I was going to sit down and type out an actual post about, you know, how we are and what has been going on in my life, but upon contact with the rest of the world I have determined instead to spend the evening howling into the void because everything is terrible

(q: better to post melodramatically, or not to post at all? for the pandemic lends itself to melodramatic feelings, but honestly, things of this nature are passing through my head a solid eighty percent of the time these last few months, albeit worse today)

Very popular choice.

I love you so much.

I think it's better to speak than to be silent. It's a melodramatic year.

howling into the void: extremely reasonable reaction to today, tbh

i think melodramatic posting is generally better than not posting at all, unless it is, like. harmful to your own mental wellbeing in some way? i can see ways it might be, but if not... yeah.

like, a record of the emotion of the moment can often be valuable later given how prone to protectively folding felt around all the jagged edges our minds are and, regardless, community can be had in melodramatic howling as much as in the mundane.

Melodrama, definitely, rather than silence.

If you can't be melodramatic in a pandemic, when can you? If ever it was justified...

Besides, a blog is as good a place as any to channel the "I canNOT believe this is my life. How did everything get so broken? We are living in a post-apocalyptic dystopia, or maybe a during-apocalyptic dystopia, and I want to file for a change of address to the good Trousers of Time."

Howl howl howl howl.

Can we please have the late romances now? Restoration, reconciliation, healing?

Love,

Nine

Melodramatic posting seems like a very reasonable response to the shitshow we live in. I, for one, am not put off by it from anyone these days. Unless they are Republicans.

Better to post, certainly. Stoicism is overreated!

Melodrama implies a degree of theatrical overstatement and inappropriate self-dramatisation. I think you're just being situationally aware. It helps me remember I'm not insane, 2020 really is this bad.
