So does applying to graduate school make *everyone* feel as though they have the mental competency, emotional stability, intelligence, ability to succeed, and general prospects in life of Naugahyde, or is it only me?

I suspect most people introspective enough to make it to graduate school suffer from doubts about their abilities. The only people who don't are the ones that don't really think about it.

Those poor Naugas!

Yes, the answer is yes. No matter what anyone told me I was convinced I wasn't going to get accepted until I actually had letter in hand. Even then I was sure there must have been a large mistake.

I know it won't help much, but you'll be fine.

Mrow.

Applying to PhD programs is probably just like that.

Good luck finishing them --

I never make blanket statements about "everyone."

Me - sure

Pretty much everyone I've talked to who has been in application limbo - yup.

So you are most assuredly not alone. Hang in there!

Just _thinking_ about it makes me feel like that (well, not the emotional stability part, but we're all different). Then Phoenix tells me that I'll do fine, really, and I tell her that, and all is better. I'm quite sure that you will be fine, but I also know that saying it might not help. Mrf. Sympathies.

I don't know, those Naugas don't look as happy as you.
