I exist. I am at Bryn Mawr. I do not have to take five classes and audit the sixth; I only have to take five. My room is four times as big as I remembered it being (which means I will be able to have company stay with me) and is nearly unpacked. My computer and phone aren't up yet, but the clock and lamps are, as are all the posters, and the books are in the bookcases and the clothes are in the drawers. A lot of this is thanks to my mother, who just left this morning.

All these things are good.

My classes seem good, too. At the moment, it's looking like Ancient Magic will be a delight and joy and wonderment and fascination, Herodotus will be nifty and the bookstore had better get in my frickin' textbook soon, and History of Philadelphia is on crack. I mean, who holds classes during Parade Night stepsing *in Taylor F*? And then the prof looked confused at all the people who were really pissed about being there but couldn't leave because it was a lotteried course. I mean, if you have to hold a class during a significant school event, hold it somewhere out of earshot of said extremely loud event. And it's not like he didn't have a choice-- the class was originally scheduled for Carpenter, and was moved on no notice and for no apparent reason. He isn't a visiting prof, either; he's been here thirty years. We had one of my class songsmistresses in the class, and he finally let us go half an hour early when she started crying. We have a winner here, folks. I think he's gonna be a decent prof, and he seems like a nice guy in general, but for obliviousness and antitact I think I haven't seen anyone that impressive in a while. Especially since next week's class will be this Saturday on the corner of 4th and Arch Streets in Philly, and 'he'll see' about getting people reimbursed for the train, which does not reassure me-- and when there were people who said they'd already signed up for the community service day on Saturday he said that was fine and he'd assigned a supplementary paper for the people who can't go. As in a full-length paper. I would be so much happier about this if he'd given more than five days notice. If it were next weekend we were having class in town, I'd think this perfectly sane. But as it is, I think he's going overboard. Fortunately, I can get there, but I feel sorry for the people who can't.

I haven't had the two senior seminars yet, so we'll just have to see, but I like the list of topics for the Classics one and the Cities one is taught by profs I like.

And I don't have to audit Survey of Western Architecture because it turns out I've already basically read the syllabus and done the curriculum and I could mentally identify all the slides they showed and knew why they were all important, so that frees up my life, and the registrar has given me credit I wasn't expecting for Scottish so I don't have to take any more gym, so all in all life is going well.

Anybody know when Scottish starts, by the way?
