I've gone through and done some maintenance on my AO3 account, [archiveofourown.org profile] Rush_That_Speaks, including moving over the fic I am still happiest with from previous Yuletides and from earlier in this journal-- most notably the Much Ado About Nothing fic and the Shoujo Kakumei Utena/Chronicles of Narnia crossover. There is also a new Homestuck fic, about which much of what I have to say is read the warning tags because I mean them ([livejournal.com profile] handful_ofdust, this might be up your alley). And I have more Homestuck fic in progress, because that is how my life apparently works these days.

Heh, I always know where the Fanfic Written for Me can be found. Here it is.

Yeeup, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who's ever requested it for Yuletide.

I seriously never intended to pressure you into "upload now omg!" It was just that after this latest bout of Yuletide, I'd been wishing that more of the older fics I'd gotten had wafted over to aO3 as well, so your post seemed timely. Thanks v.v. much. :)

I look forward to reading it.

I appreciate that! LJ has been getting so squirrelly that I wish all the fanfic authors I know would move stuff there. I'm starting to save my favorite Saiyuki fanfics by others locally (on this Mac or to my phone).

Yeah, I just don't trust LJ as a fic repository anymore. I've had the AO3 account for a while and figured I should probably start actually using it.

I'm not familiar with the source canon for the Homestuck or Utena ones (though having Narnia in the latter helped), but they're both obviously really well-written, so thanks. I really enjoyed the Bound, Baccano! and Much Ado About Nothing ones.

Because I've been wondering for a while, however: How does AO3 "work", exactly? Do you have to apply, or get invited? How's the posting interface? The woman who maintains "my" site doesn't really update anymore, so all my 3:10 to Yuma stuff (for example) is currently only on Livejournal/my Dreanwidth mirror, which seems like a bad idea.

AO3 uses invite codes. I probably have one lying about, or you could ask over at F_FA, those threads usually turn one up in about three minutes. Asking through the archive itself will produce a wait of months at this time because they have Organizational Issues.

That said, once you actually have the page I quite like the posting interface-- pretty intuitive and has a lot of options for customization if you need it. Also nice automatic stat counters and decent social bookmarking. I suggest tagging everything with 'Choose Not To Use Archive Warnings', though, because people can get really wanky about it if they think something should have been warned for and wasn't in a way I haven't seen them operate on other sites.

You would like Homestuck, I think. It is a webcomic... ish thing, using animation and music and webcomic panels and after getting past the beginning bits it is an awesomely and perversely worldbuilt juggernaut of an epic.

Yeah, I've heard its praises from a lot of people, and one day I'll definitely check it out. I won't ask you for a code just yet, because in order to use it the way I should I think I'd have to go back and re-"fix" some very huge pieces of fic for public consumption...all my OZ stuff, for example, since back then I didn't have an LJ and hadn't learned anything about even minimal layout coding. But thanks for the insight in AO3 and its mysteries; I certainly will avail myself, if and when the time frees itself up.

How long have you been into Homestuck ? I am confused now, because I got into it about April of last year thanks to [livejournal.com profile] crotalus_atrox and I know I enthused about it to a lot of people I thought would like it and in any sensible world you really should have been one of them and I'd thought you were but I am not finding any mail to that effect. I shall look up that fic soon.

About a month? You did mention it in passing, but I blame it having eaten my head on [livejournal.com profile] rax and [livejournal.com profile] askerian mostly. And oh boy, has it eaten my head.

I think I may actually have infected [livejournal.com profile] rax, so that makes me feel somewhat better.

I've never found anything hit my complexity button, my time-travel-not-actually-made-stupid button, and the meta-done-intelligently button I didn't know I even had like that before.
