My review of Livia Llewellyn's The Engines of Desire, at Strange Horizons. In brief: debut collection; competent, interesting, very depressing psychological horror with a female-centered perspective.

Also, the preorder page and first chapter of [profile] deliasherman's next novel, The Freedom Maze, are up at Small Beer Press. The imprint, Big Mouth House, is the YA side of Small Beer. I am delighted that Small Beer are doing YA. I'm also quite curious about the book.

Yay for review publication! I hope I have the emotional fortitude for horror sometime soon, since that collection sounds very interesting, especially with the PNW aspect being so prominent.

Lovely to have a new review from you, though the book sounds rather dark for me.

Hope this means you're feeling better.

A little, thank you, but not entirely as yet.

I enjoyed your review, but that book sounds like the opposite of something I would enjoy.

Delia's novel, though, I'm looking forward to reading.

I am not entirely sure I enjoyed it, either. Healthy respect, is what I have there, but no desire to ever reread.

And Delia's sounds really fascinating.
