The reservoir is the Quabbin; it serves most of the Pioneer Valley including Amherst and Northampton. There is creepiness to it--three towns were indeed abandoned and drowned in order to make the thing. The on-campus apartment complexes at Hampshire were named after them: Merrill, Greenwich, and Prescott. Eldritch things went on there, but only when the gamers decided to play Call of Cthulhu, or when someone had a bad trip.
