I think it's supposed to be about horror at discovering you're not genetically pure, but I thought it was sort sweet, like Madeleine Albright learning that she was Jewish.
So far I haven't been able to sell my story about the oppression of the Deep Ones in desert internment camps--everyone likes it, but no one wants Lovecraft pastiche. Nevertheless, I've just thought of another Aphra Marsh story, because after she gets out of the camp, I don't think she'll be thrilled to find out that Lovecraft's narrator is still around, and one of her few surviving relations.
