Dear self:

If the book has been pouring out of you for months, beautifully fast, and then there are three weeks where all you can do is hem and haw and stare at it mournfully and try not to think about it--

-- it is a sure sign that the plot is about to do something outline-shredding, unexpected, and infuriatingly, terrifyingly correct.

Because that is what it has been the last three times.

Please to take note of this for the future.

Aaagh apparently Part II and Part V have decided they are each other. How helpful.

I find that - the current WIP excepted, for which getting bogged down is part of the process - that getting stuck is a sign of trying to force the story in a direction that it doesn't want to go in. Ever since I realised that I've stopped trying to push through the barrier, which has improved my productivity no end...
