New York is a good place to be, because of the people who are in it and because of the weather. It is so much warmer here than it has been at school in months, and I can actually feel my feet. Claritin is really doing something about my kitty allergies, and has basically gotten rid of my cold. Ruth is her usual delightful purring wow-I-think-my-girlfriend-was-visually-designed-by-Botticelli self (she was, really, I swear), and the kitties missed me, which is proved by the fact that they have been coming and sitting on my lap insistently and refusing to let me do anything other than pay attention to them. And yesterday there was Signy and it was good, and we wandered around 42nd St. supporting the musicians' strike (yay Actor's Guild for refusing to cross the picket lines) and wandering into shops and restaurants and chatting. And the day before that Ruth and I went to the new Japanese restaurant that has opened, like, a block away and the food was up there on my list of Great Japanese Food. And Signy and Ruth and I went to Kinokuniya in Rockefeller Center and they sell the YnM artbook and also a couple of volumes of Saiyuki-related manga that I do not think the Bostonians have (correct me if I'm wrong, but you all do not have something called Saiyuki: Reload, right? Oh, and if you are interested in the Hellsing manga, pure but very pretty, these people sell it). They had the Great Big Yoshitaka Amano Artbook of Utter Gorgeousness, too. So today I am going to wander around bookstores and comic book stores and goof off, and maybe tomorrow I will have enough of a brain to write my big political rant. Purr.

Really? Is Alucard a bishonen?

We did manage to find Saiyuki Reload at the Japanese bookstore down the street from us. One volume -- I don't know if there is more.

Purr.

Of course she was. This is Ruth after all.

Kinokuniya rocks, rocks, ROCKS. It is the mother of all bookstores. All the one in Shinjuku needs to do is get a built-in coffeeshop (that hasn't yet hit on in Japan; I'm hoping it will sooner rather than later) and it will be perfect.

Also, another Japanese store, Book Off, has a branch in New York; you might want to look for it while you're there.

And I miss my cat! *waaaaaaugh*
