-- Thrud has expressed interest in trying to teach me to knit. She will be the fourth person to attempt it. Those of you who have a countdown on how long it has been since I drastically injured myself in the name of fiber arts should start paying attention. At least I am no longer trying to crochet, but I refuse, despite all evidence, to believe myself unable to knit. Maybe this time it will take! I am hoping to avoid permanent scarring this time, but past experience indicates that this hope is probably foolish.

-- This means that I spent much of the afternoon winding yarn from a skein into a ball while reading Berserk. Which seems appropriate.

-- Have started mailing books to the house in Texas. Also we have named the house in Texas: it is officially Ataraxia. Odd to think there's more than a year before I personally move, especially since we have also started talking about the gardening.

-- I have spent three weeks of the past month with one of two different nasty colds, and that can stop anytime. No, really, anytime. Or sooner.

-- Hopefully before a week from now, when [livejournal.com profile] gaudior and I will go to Australia for a week to meet B. That should be pretty awesome. I will write it up, as per usual; don't know if I'll have net access there.

I don't think I've talked about it much on LJ, but I'm pretty sure I have mentioned it, I think, maybe? It's a good house, it has a lot of space and a lot of windows and a courtyard with a fountain and a lake in the back and a rosebush older than I am. I keep meaning to post pics under lock but the thing is I took them and they are Really Bad Pictures.

At any rate, it turns out it is cheaper to media-mail books to TX than to put them in a moving van.

. . . May I ask?

Also, are you interested in hanging out before you decamp for Australia? Call me if so; e-mail is a dicey proposition at the moment.

She managed to almost need stitches after handling one of my blunt plastic crochet hooks. She cut her hand open.

I have no idea how.

Good luck on the knitting. I hope you fare better than I did, with my sad little lopsided triangles. I'll be over here crocheting.

Heh. I am not trying crocheting again because I don't know how I did that either. I was just holding the thing and then it attacked. With malice aforethought.

I really hope the knitting goes better this time; I have long been annoyed at myself for not knowing how to knit as it is one of the essential skills of a gentleman.
