AAARGH!!!

It's a fascinating thing how, if one is going to make a trip and leave behind people one cares about, said people usually manage to do something to make one really, really glad to leave. This is the only possible explanation for this morning's incident with the kittens and the peanut-butter.

I wanted to have a bagel with peanut butter and honey on it for breakfast. There's no way to keep the cats off the counter when there's only one person in the apartment, so I grabbed my stuff out of the fridge and sat down on the couch with a plate, which is a reasonably defensible position in case of cat-curiosity. Usually, they go away as soon as they have ascertained that one REALLY DOES NOT WANT THEM TO HAVE SOMETHING. Today, they acted as though they'd been drafted for D-Day and were going to Take That Couch. After a long and aggravating sequence of events, I wound up with: no breakfast, honey in my hair, peanut butter on everything and everybody, cat hair on what used to be a perfectly good bagel, claw marks down my leg, and homicide in my heart.
I think I've got everything reasonably clean, but I may need to take another shower.

I am sooooo glad we're leaving today. I will find this funny after a nice long weekend somewhere else.
