I am ill. Consequently, I have spent waaaay too much time on the Net today, but only because I have been too out of it to do anything else. And I have remembered Why I Love Good Fic. Being ill, I've been concentrating on the funny stuff, and some of it is damn funny.

Disclaimer found on a Buffy fic: "If they were mine, there would come a time when taffeta would play a role in their lives." This on a fic about Spike, mind you.

Fortunately, it had nothing to do with the fic, but it has made for an endlessly entertaining set of mental images.

I also second Rabidfangurl's rec of the X-Men fic 'Happy Little Sounds' (check her page for the link). Yes, it's hetsmut, but it's also Wolverine in an elf costume-- plausibly. Rogue asked nicely, see. And Cyclops in an elf costume. And Wolverine and Cyclops staring at each other while wearing elf costumes, and for the first time in their lives more upset with other people than they are at each other. Go read it if you like X-Men at all. Because it is Wolverine. Wearing bells.

And a fourteen-word summary of Les Miserables that I ran across somewhere: "Jean Valjean goes on a reluctant quest for spiritual redemption. Other stuff happens too."

I noticed today that I infinitely prefer fic about things I don't particularly watch, or read, or care about, because that way, if people get things wrong in the fic, I a) won't notice and b) won't care. Remind me to go on my rant sometime here about why Tolkien slash, as a genre, no matter how good or not good it is, should be severely chided because its ideological bases are, I believe, working against the entire point of J.R.R. Tolkien as a writer. Only not right now. Because I feel lousy and I'm going to bed. At least it's been a mildly entertaining sort of day.
