Today is Better, but I still did not actually want to get up, have food, go to the gym, and start running errands like a sensible person, so I tried to kick myself into gear using the one-small-task-at-a-time method. I figured I could sew the missing button back on my best coat, and then put the coat on and go out, and, oh gee, once out the door stuff would happen, right?

The button is sewed on and the coat looks great. Unfortunately, this pushed me into Sewing!Mode and I tackled all the other mending I own and I never actually did make it out the door. It has therefore been an insanely productive day in all the wrong ways.

Mind you, the ego boost of discovering that I am now capable, due to Thrud's influence and all the cosplay stuff, of sewing a nice straight hem that fixed a complicated rip in a much-loved dress is tremendous, as is the ego boost of discovering that said dress still fits after four years of closet languishing while I refused to throw it out, and that it looks just as good as it ever did and I was perfectly right to keep it. But, delighted as I am, I am also rather aggravated with myself.

I have also finished all the simple and medium mending and have started on the stuff that may as well be termed Renovations and is going to take forever. Aargh.

Tomorrow: Our Heroine leaves the damn house.

I know nothing of this disorder of which you speak, she said, guiltily looking over the huge folders of obsessively made LJ icons (although that's not productive like sewing is)....

I need to have a day like that at some point -- I have about 10 things currently in various stages of minor mending (e.g. missing buttons) through major renovations (e.g. adding a lining to a coat). I did manage to finally patch the large tear in the rear of one of my pairs of jeans a couple days ago... and they have now just developed a new hole in the knee, right below one of the old patches. They're going to turn into the Pants of Theseus at this rate.

Yeah, but knee rip = wearable, whereas rear rip tends to be not so wearable, so overall it's an increase in utility.

Yay image of Pants of Theseus!
