This year is bad, bad, bad, bad.

But for a lot of people I know, last year was - on a purely personal level - bad, bad, bad, bad as well.

We will keep fighting for a better future - for ourselves and for our world - just as we did through last year.

And as far as Leonard Cohen goes... He always, as far as I can make out, lived his life symbolically. Heartbreaking though it is, is it not better for him to die now, just as so many of our dreams have suddenly died? (Though we may hope for resurrection.)
Is it not better for us, to get our grieving over in one fell swoop of awful?
And anyway: do you think he would have wanted to live a little longer, only to die in Trump's America?
