Engine Summer

Given how cynical I am about his odds of even finishing the first edition any time this century, I don't hold out much hope of there being a better one later on. I also don't know what that edition would look like, though, because apparently he believes a whole lot of stuff is essential to his story that is, to my eye, a complete flaming waste of time (see: an appallingly large percentage of the fourth and fifth books). I'm trying to wait until the sixth book comes out before I declare that he's completely lost his way, because 4 and 5 were the part of the story he originally meant to timeskip over, and maybe once he's past that we'll be back on track and things will improve. But at that point my imaginary Revised Edition would probably involve ditching 90% of the middle books.
