Oddly, it brings to mind my candidate for strangest book I've ever read: IT HAPPENED IN BOSTON?, by Russell Greenan. Which is about a mad artist who takes it upon himself to overthrow God. Have you read it? I think I'd really enjoy reading your take on it. (It seems to be out of print again, dammit, which was not the case a year or two ago.)
