I have not read the Jan Morris. My library doesn't appear to have Last Letters from Hav but has like seventeen of her travel books listed, but everything I see online about Last Letters from Hav makes me go oooooh shiny. Let me get back to you on that specific one after I see whether I could obtain it from a library system further into the city.
I have read Goodbye to All That uh I have forgotten how many times. I love the bit where -mi verbs destroy his life-- it's so true, that does happen to people. Would be willing to write it up if I can't find the Jan Morris, or you could pick a different book.
