Yes! I have this translation, too - or, at least, it's an 'Indiana Masterpiece Edition' (?), which has Musa's translation but which is also thankfully dual text, so I can scrape something together with my lousy Italian. But, yes, the translation is a bit dreary. Not bad, but bad enough that it's pretty annoying on a regular basis when read right next to the Petrarch. It takes all the immediacy right out and makes everything seem slightly foxed and very polite.

Thank you for the mention of that bit from De remediis utriusque fortunae - it is indeed lovely and I'll have to look it up.
