Anyhow. Total number of words of Altarwise now existing: 3,152. Total number of those written today: approx. 1,500. Insistence of brain that I get back to it right frickin' now: impressive. Ability to focus on writing up something interesting that has happened to me in the last while, such as going to see This Film Is Not Yet Rated with [livejournal.com profile] sovay, or going with Ruth to NYC on a day trip and finally getting to meet [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija in person and having a wonderful lunch with her and [livejournal.com profile] coffeeandink and [livejournal.com profile] oracne, or the fact that said lunch party has, after approximately seven years of Ruth's trying very, very hard, caused me (via strategic use of music videos) to agree to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer: nil.

I couldn't talk about all of that if I tried, and it's a shame, because there were wonderful duck confit hash browns and an episode of Supernatural and the Xena: Warrior Princess Vid Of Ultimate Lesbian Sensuality. But my brain falls apart, the center cannot hold, and I must return to loosing not merely anarchy upon my characters.

Must learn how to balance obsession with rest of reality.

Everything is better, now I'm writing.

Better make the most of the obsession while it lasts-- eventually you will resemble my icon (we all do).

It was wonderful meeting you! We must do it again!

I need to find or make a recipe-- shreds of duck, very moist, and the potatos fried in the duck fat, with salt and rosemary and tiny chunks of roasted red bell pepper... Very memorable. More places should do it.

And I shall keep writing, at lo this very moment. Thank you.

Indeed we must! That was fun. I say we should do a lot of eating together.

Well, you're writing. Of course it's like that. That's what it's like.

Also, while some people get bored with wordcount posts -- I hardly get any responses on mine -- other people find them useful and encouraging. I like it when I get up in the morning and other people are writing, it makes it seem less weird when I am, and less as if the whole thing is being shirked when I'm not.

You can write about the visit when the book isn't going so well. In the meantime: BOOK!

Writing is good. Ride the wave while you can. Obsession is the best way to get real progress going on a novel.

Amen. I certainly find other people's wordcounts encouraging to read; hope the insistence stays and keeps producing useful words.

I just figured you'd get bored if I posted "yay wordcount wooooo" every time. I really like seeing them from everyone.

Actually, I like yours. They're kind of intensely focused, and really convey some aspect of personality or other.

It's just that the information conveyed is quite specific, and not really something one can expand on.
