Scene: a bedroom, containing FOX (extremely awake, as they are every morning at five-thirty), RUTH (awake, but at what cost) and ME (going to bed, dammit).

Fox and I are sitting on the bed as Ruth gets dressed, which at this hour takes place in slow motion. Fox has located Ruth's iPhone, which was basically under the pillow as it is also the alarm clock, and is randomly poking at buttons, as both Ruth and I keep an eye out to make sure they do not do anything too irreversible. They manage to turn on the flashlight and open Safari, but not to load any webpages.

ME: I wonder at what age we should get them their own phone?

RUTH: Clearly, not yet.

ME: Probably at the age where they start needing it to schedule things?

RUTH: That sounds about right.

ME: But I think their first phone should have really limited data and maybe only call like two or three numbers--

SIRI, sounding displeased: I OBJECT TO CATEGORIES BASED ON SUCH ARBITRARY GENERALIZATIONS

FOX: ??? why has everybody doubled over laughing ???

ME: Siri, that was creepy.

RUTH: Siri, that was hilarious.
